Cultural Partnership Established with Janakpur Art School
A landmark partnership to support emerging Mithila artists through collaborative residency programs has been signed.
For Immediate Release
The Mithila Museum Initiative has signed a formal partnership agreement with the Janakpur Art School (JAS) in Janakpur, Nepal. The partnership is the first of its kind to formally connect a new museum institution in India with Nepal’s leading Mithila art education center.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will collaborate on artist residencies, shared exhibitions, and educational programs that support the next generation of Mithila artists. Mithila Museum will host visiting artists from JAS, while JAS students will have access to the museum’s archival and research resources.
“This partnership reflects the borderless nature of the Mithila tradition,” said Ananya Devi, Head of Community Engagement. “Mithila art has always been a shared cultural heritage, and our institutions should reflect that.”
